How long will my loaf last?
Sourdough is best when fresh. With proper storage, sourdough can last a week and makes excellent toast even when dry to the touch.
What’s the best way to store sourdough?
Sourdough is best stored cut side down on a cutting board or counter top and covered with a tea towel or cake dome. Placing the bread in a plastic bag or Ziploc will create a chewy crust.
How long will my loaf last? Can I freeze it?
Sourdough is best when fresh. With proper storage, sourdough can last a week and makes excellent toast even when dry to the touch.
Freezing is a great way to store bread you aren’t eating within a week. Either pre-slice and wrap individually or wrap in larger pieces before placing in the freezer. Slices can be toasted directly from the freezer. Larger pieces should be thawed, moistened (you can even run it quickly under the faucet) and then place in a 400 degree oven for 5 minutes or until warm.
